Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m so thankful for YOU!!
Every week when I get to write this little pop of positivity, I also say a little prayer that you will be filled with peace and busy doing all the things God has prepared in advance for you to do.
And this week, if you’re in the US, your calling will probably include some family and friend activities centered around eating and celebrating and probably watching some football.
All those things are wonderful gifts.
And they can also be stressful.
One thing I’ve been doing all week as I get my house ready for company and prepped for the Christmas season ahead, is that when I feel those tremors of stress creep up, and my mind starts to get anxious, I do my best to to turn those thoughts into moments of gratitude.
For example, when I got all anxious yesterday at Krogers when I couldn’t get the app to work right, and had to call over the checkout lady more than once, (ahem), and when she got all irritated with me for calling her over those multiple times, and I just wanted to leave it all at the checkout un-checked out, and I actually started to get teared up because I really needed that food for Wednesday and Thursday and Friday but it just felt too overwhelming…
I made myself stop.
Take a few really deep breaths.
And remind myself that I was so fortunate to be able to check out a full cart.
And remind myself that that poor clerk was just at the start of her day and had a long road ahead before she could be finished with helping people like me…or worse.
And be thankful that I could be at an overflowing grocery store filled with abundance.
And somehow those breaths and those thoughts got me reoriented so I could finish my checkout and head home to start getting it all together.
So today, as you start facing your “incoming,” I pray you will remember to breathe!
Then check in on what you have to be thankful for. And thank the Lord that He has given you all that you have and are.
Just think…this is just the BEGINNING of the season! 🙂
Love you and cheering you on,
Christy 🙂
P.S. Philippians 1:3 “Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart.” (The Message)
